The dmesg output you quote below does indicate that the kernel is detecting a scanner on the USB port, but it apparently misidentifies it as a "Microtek Scanmaker X6 USB scanner" and loads the Microtek driver for that. So you may have the right usb driver (usbscanner) but the wrong scanner-protocol driver

As it turns out, the Art Dept. driver is for the ScanJet IIc, and the scanner I have access to is a ScanJet Plus (they do not seem to be compatible). I also have access to a Microtek Scanmaker IIxe. Are there any drivers for this scanner for the Amiga?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
